Workers Vote IAM Yes in Fresno
Local 653 Directing Business Representative Tom Rotella is pleased to announce that fifteen employees of Toyota Material Handling,in Fresno, CA, have voted to join the IAM. These workers, all fork-lift mechanics, survived a tough campaign and won the right to collectively bargain a new contract with the employer.
Brother Rotella would like to specifically recognize the Western Territory GLR Mike Wardle and District 190 Area Director Mark Martin in this victory. District 190 has several other locations of the Toyota Material Handling Group under contract already, and his knowledge of the company was invaluable. GLR Wardle, the automotive coordinator for the western US, used his expertise to reach out to the workers and help lead them to their goal of joining the IAM.
GVP Pearson expressed his appreciation for the hard work put in by everyone on this campaign, and views this win as a postive step toward increasing our presence in the California Central Valley.
