District 190 Adds New Members

July marks another organizing victory for the Western Territory.  District 190 organizer Jesse Juarez reports that the organizing committee of Local Lodge 1101 successfully organized a group of auto technicians employed by Lexus of Stevens Creek, a Greg Penske dealership. The vote was 33-18.

Issues included no wage increase for the past six years, a desire for dignity and fairness in the workplace and having the employer’s promises guaranteed in writing.  During the campaign, the dealership denied being aware of the issues and even removed the GM.

“Congratulations and thank you to the Local 1101 committee, DL 190 DBR Jim Beno, Area Director Jim Schwantz, BR Richard Breckenridge and Shop Steward Ryan Keegan for their instrumental role in bringing representation to these new members,” said Western Territory GVP Lee Pearson.  “The IAM looks forward to negotiating a fair contract and getting it in writing for these technicians.”
