Now that the conferees have been appointed they are expected to start negotiating next week. In the interim, the following Democratic and Republican “Dear Colleague” letters are being circulated through Congress requesting signatures in support of full funding for Amtrak at the requested $1.2 billion for FY 2003. These letters will be presented to the conferees on Monday, February 3, 2003. (click here to view the Republican letter) If your member of Congress is already a signatory on one of these letters please call and thank him of her for their support. However, if your member of Congress is not a signatory on one of these letters, please call their office and ask them to support the full funding amount of $1.2 billion for Amtrak on the House floor and to sign-on to their respective parties letter. |
