San Francisco Lockout Ends

11-29-04 – The 4,000 hotel workers in San Francisco have returned to work under an agreement between Unite Here and the hotels to return to the bargaining table. The union and hotels have agreed to a 60-day cooling off period.

During this period the union has agreed not to strike and the hotels have agreed not to lockout the workers. Negotiations will continue in an attempt to settle the outstanding issues in the contract. The major issues involve medical benefits, pension contributions, retiree benefits, right to organize, wages and the term of the contract.

Meanwhile negotiations continue in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.
