Guide Dogs of America Unveils New Website

To make navigation more user-friendly, Guide Dogs of America (GDA) has launched a redesigned website. Easily-accessible navigation panes on the home page now make it simpler to find information.
New to the website is a Virtual Tour, which allows everyone a chance to see and “experience” the GDA facilities in Sylmar, CA, without actually being there. The Tour can be found in the News & Events section, under Videos. The updated News & Events section also includes an option to view events in list or calendar format.
The most popular addition to the website is the new Puppy Cam, which runs 24/7 and can be accessed from a PC or Mac. Five cameras are set up in various kennels to ensure puppies are viewable at all times.

Guide Dogs of America was founded by IAM member Joseph Jones, with the help of the Machinists Union, in 1948. GDA’s mission is “to provide guide dogs and instruction in their use, free of charge, to blind and visually impaired men and women from the United States and Canada so that they may continue to pursue their goals with increased mobility and independence.”
