Leaders Listen at Flight Attendant Road Shows

Support for the IAM among United Airlines’ Flight Attendants is growing quickly in response to the United/Continental/Continental Micronesia Flight Attendant Merger Road Shows, where IAM leaders and Flight Attendant organizers from United and Continental are providing information and answers to questions from Flight Attendants.
Based on the phone calls, emails and letters received since the road shows began, United Flight Attendants found the open debate refreshing. They express appreciation for an opportunity to openly question what their current union has been telling them and receive an honest response.
Additionally, in the wake of the 68 percent ratification vote by Continental Flight Attendants for a contract that increases base pay to $52.53 an hour, support among Continental and Continental Micronesia Flight Attendants has never been greater.
“United, Continental and Continental Micronesia Flight Attendants have all relayed their enthusiasm about being part of a 55,000 IAM-member strong work group that would represent 75 percent of the new United Airlines,” said Transportation GVP Robert Roach, Jr. “Flight Attendants are ready to start receiving this merger’s promised benefits, and the IAM has the resources and experience needed to make that happen.”
In the wake of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, the IAM Merger Road Show meetings previously scheduled for Narita and Honolulu have been postponed. New dates for the HNL and NRT Road Shows will be posted as soon as they are available.
