Spanish Leadership Programs Gain Popularity

District 15 Business Representative Juan Negron teaches a segment of the increasingly popular Spanish Leadership I class at the William W. Winpisinger Education Center.

This week the William W. Winpisinger Center (W3) held the second Spanish Leadership I program of 2011, bringing the number of participants this year to its highest point since the Spanish training programs began in 2006. This increase reflects members’ growing demand for Spanish-language training and resources.

The quantity of materials available in Spanish through the IAM has also grown in the last year.  Click here for an updated list of the translated resources currently available through the Winpisinger Center. In addition, Local Lodge Educators who would like to receive the Educator’s Update in Spanish as well as in English can contact Elaine Poland at 301-373-8127.

Locals and Districts that are interested in sending Spanish speaking members to the Spanish Leadership programs should note that there are still openings in the upcoming Spanish Leadership II program scheduled for November 13th – 15th, 2011. In addition, the 2012 W3 program calendar has just been approved and includes two sections of Spanish Leadership I as well one section of Spanish Leadership II. Keep your eyes open – the 2012 calendar will be released to Locals and Districts soon!

Any member who has taken Leadership I, in either Spanish or English, is eligible to take Spanish Leadership II. Enrollments in both the Spanish Leadership I and Leadership II programs do not count against a lodge’s regular leadership program allotment.  Click here for the enrollment forms or contact Ruth Lowery at 301-373-8820.
