After several months of negotiations, the new IAM members of Local 124 in Joliet, IL who are employed as Clerical workers for the Village of Manhattan have a first contract that provides significant wage increases and retroactive pay of more than $7,500.

In addition to wage increases ranging from four to 30 percent in the first year, the contract calls for the establishment of a grievance procedure with due process and just cause for discipline, as well as the creation of an additional full-time position.

“I was really proud of this group for being so patient,” said Gary Stuessel, District 8 ADBR. “It was a long process reaching their first agreement. They will now enjoy all the benefits of a Machinists Union collective bargaining agreement, with the opportunity to improve the agreement in future negotiations.”

IAM Midwest Territory GVP Phil Gruber welcomed our new members saying, “We congratulate District 8 and our new members on their very successful negotiations and first contract. This is a prime example of the phrase, ‘It doesn’t cost to belong to the IAM, it PAYS!’”
