Improved Contract Ends Strike in Fayetteville, Tennessee

Members of Local Lodge 2385 in Fayetteville, TN, voted by a 3-1 margin to accept an improved contract offer and end their 5-day strike at Goodman Mfg. in Faytetteville, TN.

The improved offer included a wage increase of 30 cents an hour the first year, up from 10 cents on the first proposal, improved health insurance, employee share and improved terms regarding the two-tier wage structure. There were no givebacks from the previous proposal. The contract covers 1,100 workers at the factory, which makes heating and air conditioning equipment.

“The future of the Fayetteville facility is important to our membership and the community,” said District 711 Business Representative Jerry Benson. “We believe this improved offer addresses many of the concerns of our membership. We look forward to a stronger relationship between the Machinists union, Goodman Mfg. and the community of Fayetteville.”

“This is a very impressive victory for the members of Local 2385,” said Southern Territory GVP Bob Martinez. “After years of concessions and a five-day strike, the leaders of Local 2385 and District 711 produced  new contract proposals which assured our membership of better wages and benefits. I would like to extend my gratitude to all the members of Local 2385 for standing up for what is right at a crucial time.”
