IAM Mourns Former Auditor Charles Cook

The IAM mourns the death of former Grand Lodge Auditor Charles Edward “Ed” Cook of Cross Plains, IN. Charles passed away Monday morning at the age of 75.

Charles Cook became an IAM member on July 10, 1962. He first worked at Reliance Electric Company in Madison, IN.  As a member of Local 1109, he held every office. Charles later served as an officer of District 90 in Indianapolis for twenty years. He served as a Grand Lodge Auditor from 1981 until his retirement in 2001. Cook was also active in his community, serving on the South Ripley School Board and as the Ripley County Democratic Chairman for several years. He was also an active member of his church.

“Our deepest sympathies go out to the Cook family,” said IAM International President Tom Buffenbarger. “Charlie was a well-respected and popular member of the Auditing staff. He was an invaluable asset to our great union and a devoted union and family man. His service and dedication will forever be remembered.”

Charles Cook is survived by his wife and three adult children.
