Illinois Machinist Wins Wrongful Discharge Case

Here’s another great example of why it pays to have a union contract. IAM Local 126 member Tom Symmes is back at work after being wrongfully discharged. Symmes was terminated when his employer, LPB Manufacturing in Cicero, IL, unilaterally changed the attendance policy without notification or bargaining. He was involved in an ongoing first contract effort at the company.

After filing charges against LPB Manufacturing, Symmes secured a non-board settlement which put him back to work, provided over $19,000 in back pay, and restored seniority and benefits.

Symmes is an active and strong supporter of IAM Local 126. He returned to work Wednesday October 9th and continues to proudly wear his IAM t-shirt.
