Grand Lodge Bike Run Raises $5K for Guide Dogs

About 45 people took part in the IAM Grand Lodge’s Inaugural Bike and Poker Run from IAM Headquarters to the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center. The event raised over $5,000 for Guide Dogs of America.
Sunny skies made for a perfect backdrop to the IAM Grand Lodge’s Inaugural Bike and Poker Run, which brought out about 45 participants and raised over $5,000 for Guide Dogs of America (GDA). The event was held in honor of IAM General Secretary-Treasurer Robert Roach, Jr.
Bikers made the 50-mile motorcycle ride from IAM Headquarters in Upper Marlboro, MD to the William W. Winpisinger (WWW) Center in southern Maryland before an afternoon of food, prizes and entertainment.
“You never know when you or someone close by will be in need of a service animal. I am proud to raise money, assist and volunteer for such a great cause,” said IAM General Vice President Dora Cervantes. “The gratitude one gets when you do something good for someone in need, is what motivated me to be a part of this fundraising event.”
Guide Dogs of America is a California-based charity that provides service dogs and training in their use free of charge to people who are blind or have impaired vision from across the U.S. and Canada.
