IAM Western Territory General Vice President Gary Allen and a delegation of IAM representatives from Southern California visited Workshops for Warriors, a non-profit organization that provides job training to veterans, to deliver a donation from the IAM and forge a partnership.

“Our veterans have always stood on the front lines, defending our individual freedoms and constitutional rights,” said Allen. “We owe them a great debt of gratitude for their valiant service to our great country.”

The organization offers veterans welding and machining courses completely free of charge.

“The IAM looks forward to forging a partnership and assisting Workshops for Warriors with the transition of veterans and injured veterans into civilian life through training, mentoring, and job placement,” said Allen. “Justice on the job and service to the community – it’s who we are as a union. Our skilled members work hard every day to produce state-of-the-art military technology to help keep our soldiers safe. It is now up to us to help them obtain training and good-paying jobs as we welcome them home. Thank you to our San Diego team for bringing this this noble cause to the forefront.”

“Make no mistake; this is a union-friendly facility,” said Workshops for Warriors founder Hernán Luis y Prado. “Unions built the middle class and gave us that little thing we all enjoy called the weekend.”

Workshops for Warriors has graduated 140 veterans since its inception in 2008 and boasts a 100 percent job placement rate.
