UA Becomes Fourth Major Union to Endorse Clinton

The United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (UA) became the fourth major union to endorse Hillary Clinton’s bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.

“Hillary Clinton has stood side-by-side with workers fighting for the right to organize and against harmful labor policies such as Right to Work,” said UA President William Hite. “This election will come down to which candidate will work the hardest to resolve the persistent problems of income inequality and restore dignity and fairness in the workplace. We are proud to endorse her for President of the United States.”

The UA endorsement follows earlier endorsements for Clinton by the IAM, the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).

In a statement released after the endorsement, Clinton pledged to create American jobs with a national strategy to invest in the nation’s infrastructure and fight against Republican efforts to roll back labor protections and pass harmful ‘right to work’ laws that undercut workers. “I will fight to protect union collective bargaining rights and prevailing wage standards—because when unions are strong, America is strong,” said Clinton.
