The William W. Winpisinger Center in Hollywood, MD and Washington, DC-area IAM Automotive Local 1486 (District 4) recently hosted a Rides for Guides Car Show.
Nearly 35 vehicles participated and raised more than $5,300 for the IAM’s favorite charity, Guide Dogs of America. More than 30 local business and union sponsors contributed to the event.

“The IAM represents thousands in the automotive industry,” said IAM Education Representative Dave Miskolczi, who helped organize the event. “It makes perfect sense that our members and friends would want to exhibit their beautiful rides to raise money for our favorite charity, Guide Dogs of America.”
General Secretary-Treasurer Department Administrative Staff Secretaries Jaime Colburn and Kelly Peterson were instrumental in putting the car show together.
The event memorialized four of the Local 1486’s long-time members—Joe Brame, Bill Winpisinger, John Snoddy and Bob Pruett. Their love of cars and their union has helped promote the IAM throughout the region.
“The IAM family always finds new ways to support GDA,” said Winpisinger Center Director Chris Wagoner. “Having these classic cars on display made for a fun day for exhibitors and visitors alike. The Winpisinger Center was honored to be able to co-host this year’s Rides for Guides Car Show.”
Brame and Snoody were instrumental in increasing public awareness of the IAM’s impact on the automotive industry. Local 1486 has participated other shows including the World of Wheels Car Show in Washington, DC.
