District 837 members proudly participated in the 2025 IAM H.E.L.P.S. community service event at Salem Lutheran Church in Florissant, Mo. Eleven dedicated IAM members volunteered their time and talents to support much-needed improvements at the church’s school facilities.
The project came together after District 837 Plant Chairman Jay Walton, a member of the church congregation, shared that the school was seeking assistance to update several classrooms. District 837 members stepped in to help by moving classroom furniture out and removing old flooring, allowing the school to begin installing the updated flooring.
“Our members understand that giving back goes beyond the shop floor,” said IAM Midwest Territory General Vice President Sam Cicinelli. “By volunteering our time and skills, we were able to support local families and make a lasting difference for students and educators at Salem Lutheran Church.”
Parochial schools often operate with limited financial resources compared to public schools, making community support especially important. This project was a good fit for IAM H.E.L.P.S. volunteers to assist the school and the families who attend Salem Lutheran Church.
Community service events like this reflect the core values of the IAM, members helping neighbors, strengthening communities, and showing solidarity beyond the workplace.
