IAM District 9 Volunteers Prepare St. Louis Soldiers Memorial for Veterans Day Parade

Members from IAM District 9 recently joined together to give back to their community and honor those who served. Volunteers gathered at Soldiers Memorial in downtown St. Louis to help prepare the grounds ahead of the city’s upcoming Veterans Day Parade.

Nearly twenty IAM members participated in the clean-up effort, representing both the District 9 Veterans Committee and the H.E.L.P.S. Committee. Locals 41, 1745, 688, 313, 1345, 777, and 2782 were all proudly represented.

Volunteers spent the morning collecting litter and debris, including some hazardous materials, to ensure the memorial remains a clean, safe, and dignified space that properly honors our soldiers, past and present. Their work reflects the IAM’s unwavering commitment to service, solidarity, and respect for all who have worn our nation’s uniform.

“Keeping Soldiers Memorial clean and parade-ready is more than a project, it’s a statement of respect. District 9 members once again demonstrated the heart of this union by showing up for our veterans,” said IAM Midwest Territory General Vice President Sam Cicinelli. “A sincere thank you to every member who donated their time to support this meaningful project and help prepare Soldiers Memorial for Veterans Day.”

H.E.L.P.S. stands for Honoring, Engaging, Lifting, Providing, and Servicing. Each District and unaffiliated Local in the Midwest Territory will host at least one H.E.L.P.S. event per year.
