IAM Union Representatives Prepare for Crown, Cork and Seal Negotiations at Winpisinger Center

IAM representatives from across the country recently gathered at the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center in Hollywood, Md., for the Negotiation Preparation for Bargaining Committees program. The group is gearing up to negotiate a new master agreement with Crown, Cork and Seal.

The master agreement, which expires March 31, 2026, covers more than 300 IAM members at three locations nationwide. It secures wages, health care benefits, and retirement security. In addition, each local union will negotiate site-specific contract language addressing issues such as seniority, job postings, work schedules, and working conditions.

“This was a tough but rewarding class,” said IAM Union Local 1115 Shop Steward and Negotiating Committee Member Mark Bryant. “I definitely feel more confident going into negotiations.”

“It was more challenging than I expected,” said IAM Union Local 695 President Richard Howard. “I learned that preparation is everything, and I’d recommend this class to anyone getting ready for negotiations.”

The program was facilitated by IAM Union Collective Bargaining Director Craig Norman, along with W3 Instructor Tim Hight.

“Our members at Crown, Cork and Seal deserve a contract that reflects their hard work and dedication,” said Norman. “The negotiation prep class at the Winpisinger Center is an invaluable resource in preparing our committees to bargain with Crown, Cork and Seal. The preparation happening here at the Winpisinger Center ensures our committees are ready to fight for fair wages, quality health care, and retirement security.”

“When IAM locals come together to prepare, we send a clear message that we are united and we are ready,” said IAM Union District 66 Directing Business Representative Jana Kirch. “That unity is our greatest strength heading to the bargaining table.”
