U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) along with IAM Air Transport Territory General Vice President Richie Johnsen and IAM Air Transport Chief of Staff Edison Fraser, joined Delta workers at the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport to support the IAM Delta Workers organizing team.
In a show of solidarity, Rep. Tlaib rallied with the workers, advocating for their right to form a union.
The IAM is organizing Delta ramp, cargo, and tower workers. The Association of Flight Attendants (AFA-CWA) is signing up flight attendants, and the Teamsters are supporting technicians and related crafts.
Workers at Delta Air Lines have been working towards a union vote against the company, which is using anti-union tactics and is facing allegations of union-busting in response to this current organizing campaign.
The leaders of the IAM Air Transport Territory showed up at the Detroit Delta hub to support organizers and encourage workers to sign union election authorization cards.
The IAM has garnered the support of 26 U.S. Senators and a bipartisan group of more than 150 members of the U.S. House, led by the House Labor Caucus, who have called on Delta to remain neutral toward unions.
