From Capes to Collars: DC and GDA | TLC Raise Real-Life Heroes

When it comes to changing lives, real heroes don’t always wear capes. Sometimes, they walk on four paws.

DC Comics has officially teamed up with the IAM Union’s favorite charity, Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines (GDA | TLC) in an exciting, yearlong collaboration designed to shine a spotlight on the life-changing power of expertly trained service dogs.

The partnership builds on the success of last year’s San Diego Comic-Con collaboration and introduces a DC-sponsored litter of future guide and service dogs who will go on to support people who are blind or visually impaired, veterans living with PTSD or TBI, children with autism, and public institutions through facility dogs.

Meet the Pups

In a rare and meaningful departure from tradition, GDA | TLC has allowed this special litter to be named after iconic DC characters. Say hello to the newest four-legged Super Heroes:

  • Krypto – Inspired by Superman’s loyal Superdog, where good dogs and great heroes meet
  • Clark – Mild-mannered, kind-hearted, and guided by strong morals
  • Lois – Smart, fearless, and always determined
  • Kara – Powerful, courageous, and learning to harness incredible abilities
  • Lobo – Bold, fearless, and unforgettable

After graduating from puppy pre-kindergarten, these future heroes will continue their journey with dedicated volunteer puppy raisers, developing the skills they’ll one day use to bring independence, confidence, and companionship to those who need it most.

Follow the Journey

Throughout the year, DC fans and supporters of GDA|TLC can follow the pups’ training through special events, storytelling activations, and social media moments celebrating community, impact, and heroism. Fans will even have the chance to meet the puppies in person at San Diego Comic-Con this July.

At the IAM, we know that solidarity, service, and stepping up for others are what make real heroes. This collaboration is a powerful reminder that when communities come together, extraordinary things can happen.
