Machinists Union Applauds Rejection of General Electric’s Concessionary Contract Offer

International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) General Vice President Brian Bryant issued the following statement in response to IUE-CWA’s members’ rejection of the General Electric’s concessionary contract offer.

“The IAM applauds the decision by the IUE-CWA GE members to reject this concessionary contract offer,” said Bryant. “The IAM supports going back to the table to fight for a fair and equitable contract for the thousands of union members of the GE Union Coordinated Bargaining Committee (CBC). Our issues of concern still include wages, overtime, health care, and providing dignity and respect for retirees at GE. The hard-working and skilled union members and retirees at General Electric deserve better.”

The IAM represents four Locals involved in the GE proposed Master Agreement: IAM Locals 78 and 1916 in Milwaukee, Oak Creek, and Waukesha, WI, IAM Local 912 in Evendale, OH, and IAM Local 439 in Warrensville Heights, OH. IAM members work in General Electric’s aviation and medical divisions.
