IAM International President Brian Bryant has appointed Chris Salinas as a Special Representative in the IAM Southern Territory, effective Jan. 1, 2026.
“Chris has always shown what it means to truly represent our members,” said IAM Southern Territory General Vice President Craig Martin. “His deep engagement in our union, his commitment to fighting for our members, and his leadership at every level make him a strong addition to the Southern Territory team.”
Salinas, an aircraft composite worker by trade, first became involved in the IAM through the successful effort to organize his L-3 Vertex worksite at the Corpus Christi Army Depot in 2014. He initiated into IAM Local 2916 and was elected Shop Steward later that year.
In 2015, Salinas was elected Trustee of Local 2916, and in 2017 he was appointed Secretary-Treasurer of the Local, while also representing the Local as a delegate to the Coastal Bend Labor Council on local and state AFL-CIO matters.
In 2019, he was elected Chief Steward for the Amentum contract. The following year, Salinas was elected Vice President of the Coastal Bend Labor Council, and in 2024, he rose to President of the Council.
Salinas has chaired the Legislative and Organizing Committees for Local 2916 since 2023, and has served as Vice President for the IAM Texas State Council Region 6.
