High Speed Rail Initiative Unveiled and TCU Invited to Attend

Meeting Map

International President Bob Scardelletti and International Vice President Joel Parker attended the unveiling of President Barack Obama’s High Speed Rail initiative. The administration’s vision is to build a network of high-speed rail corridors across America. “This investment in America’s future and the inclusion of labor in the announcement show the determination of the administration to create a new beginning for high-speed passenger travel across the country,” said Bob Scardelletti.

Ten major corridors were identified for high-speed rail projects as well as improvements in the Northeast Corridor. The projects selected for funding were based on merit and benefit of investment. The ten major corridors are:

• California
• Pacific Northwest
• South Central
• Gulf Coast
• Chicago Hub
• Florida
• Southeast
• Keystone
• Empire
• Northern New England
