National President Maratea Hits the Road, Visiting Members Across the Country

TCU Vice-President Matt Hollis, Felipe Gonzalez President Lodge 781, Jose Cerda, TCU President Maratea, James Kane Lodge 781 Chairman of the Board of Trustees, TCU Vice-President Brian Shanahan and Michael Aldana, Local Chairman Lodge 781 and Division Chairman Unit 155

President Maratea said: “I’ve been waiting for months to meet with the members face to face. It is critical for me to see for myself what our members do and what they deal with on the property. Now that vaccination is in full swing, I can finally get out there and thank them for the incredible job they have done and continue to do, working through this pandemic. Our members have truly stepped up through this most challenging and uncertain time. I want to personally recognize their work and let them know TCU is strong because of their efforts. I am extremely proud of our members.”

This week President Maratea met with local lodge officers and members at the BNSF Corwith and the CSX Bedford Park Intermodal terminals in Chicago, Illinois.

Intermodal traffic significantly increased throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. TCU/IAM Intermodal members have been working non-stop as crane operators, hostlers and customer service reps – doing everything from loading, unloading and in/out-gating equipment to inventory and train planning/programming.

President Maratea plans to meet next with lodge officers and members at Amtrak, Orange County Transit Authority, Disney, and Metra.
