Secretary of Transportation Designates Northeast Corridor as High Speed Rail

In a letter from Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood to Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) the Northeast Corridor is now designated as high speed rail and is eligible for high speed rail funds, including the $2.4 million rejected by Florida.

In a response Senator Lautenberg said, “Our region stands ready to put Florida’s discarded high-speed rail funding to good use.”

“TCU is pleased to see the Northeast Corridor designated as high speed rail, funding for Amtrak and this corridor will make our country more efficient and stronger right where it will be used the most,” said TCU President Bob Scardelletti.
