Unions Join BNSF Railway in Court Challenge of Drug Test Rule

TCU has joined seven other rail labor unions and BNSF Railway in asking a federal appeals court to review a U.S. Department of Transportation rule that would require employees of all transportation modes—including railroads, transit and bus operators—to submit to direct observation urine collection for return-to-duty testing or follow-up testing. The rule is scheduled to become effective August 25.  Here’s the full story.  Adding its voice to the growing protest is the AFL-CIO’s Transportation Trades Department.  Read the TTD letter.
