Mediator seeks return to talks at Kennedy Space Center

Cocoa Beach, FL, June 10th, 2007 – Henry Groton, Jr., from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services in Orlando, FL today asked representatives from the Machinists Union and United Space Alliance to return to negotiations. The mediator will work with both parties to explore possible resolutions to the pending dispute.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Local 2061 negotiating committee has agreed to postpone strike action and return to the table.

“This union is always open to avenues of resolution, but the final decision stands with our membership,” said Directing Business Representative Johnny Walker.

The union has agreed to continue working under status quo conditions until these meetings have concluded.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, AFL-CIO, CLC, is one of the nation’s largest trade unions, representing more than 720,000 active and retired members. For additional information about the IAM, visit their website at www.goiam.org.
