HPWO GLRs
In order to more effectively coordinate, assist, and promote the development of HPWO Partnerships, all IAM General Vice Presidents have designated a Grand Lodge Representative to coordinate HPWO activities in their respective territories. The HPWO GLRs evaluate new sites where union and management leaders have expressed an interest in exploring the IAM's HPWO Partnerships process. The GLRs also present information about many other Departments at IAM Headquarters and the types of services that they make available to IAM-represented worksites.
The HPWO GLRs monitor, promote, and evaluate the progress of all current HPWO sites in their respective territories. They share information about the partnerships in their Territories and communicate with the HPWO Partnerships Department at IAM Headquarters as the implementation process continues. Each year the HPWO GLRs meet and share information about the progress made at each site in their respective territories.
HPWO Partnerships Sites
Many of the active HPWO sites which are represented by the IAM have recently held special events or been recognized for their success of working together in a highly competitive global economy. Each site's unique HPWO journey is ongoing and dedicated to saving and creating jobs.
Local Lodge 1720 and ISP
The IAM's Local Lodge 1720 in Calvert City, Kentucky and the employer it represents, International Specialty Products (ISP), have been recognized several times for their ability to work together and to achieve mutually defined goals. Most recently the site was picked as one of Industry Week's Top Ten Best Plants.
The IAM's International President, Tom Buffenbarger, was a featured speaker at the ceremony that honored the employees at ISP with the Best Plant Award.
The IAM and Harley-Davidson
Harley-Davidson, which is one of the employers with whom the IAM has formed an HPWO Partnership, celebrated its 100th Anniversary in Milwaukee,Wisconsin on Labor Day weekend 2003. In order to help commemorate the occasion the IAM and PACE, the two International Unions which represent employees at Harley Davidson, produced and distributed over 35,000 bandanas to those who attended the 100th Celebration and visited the union tent. Motorcycle enthusiasts from around the world attended the celebration and picked up the unions' bandanas.
