January 23, 2005 – Chinese workers protesting the sale of a factory employing thousands clashed with Chinese police for three days, leaving many workers injured and one in critical condition.
The incident is just the latest example of social instability in China, with the number of public disorder cases jumping to 87,000 in 2005.
