Hourly, Weekly Earnings Down

January 22, 2007 – Both hourly and weekly real wages fell in 2007, according to a report from the Economic Policy Institute. After growing by about 2% in 2006, both hourly and weekly earnings fell, after adjusting for inflation, by about 1% last year, the report states.

The report also says it is unlikely that either of these trends will reverse in coming months, impacting the purchasing power of working families and increasing the likelihood of a recession.
