Lawmakers Urge Bush to Stop Loss of Steel Jobs to China

December 2, 2005 – Congressional lawmakers are urging President Bush to save U.S. steel jobs by fighting against Chinese steel that has been illegally dumped in the U.S.
61 members of the House and 20 members of the Senate are asking Bush to implement a fair-trading policy that would limit the amount of steel allowed to be imported into the U.S.
“Instead of allowing our steel jobs to be outsourced to China, we must stand up and fight for fair-trading policies that keep the American steel industry strong, and the American steel worker employed,” said Rep. Pete Visclosky (D-Ind.)
