U.S. Posts Record Trade Deficit With China

December 14, 2006 – The U.S. trade deficit with China jumped 6.1 percent to a record $24.4 billion in October. Through the first 10 months of the year, the U.S. deficit with China stands at $190.6 billion.

Experts expect the deficit to be around $240 billion for the year, well above last year’s record $202 billion.

The growing trade deficit with China sends a clear message to the Bush administration that effective action must be taken to put a halt to China’s currency manipulation.
