IAM Union Local SC 711 members working for M1 Support Services and its subcontractors at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas have overwhelmingly ratified a strong new three-year collective bargaining agreement. The contract covers a wide range of skilled trades across 29 classifications – from aircraft mechanics and avionics technicians to supply clerks and librarians.
The new agreement, which takes effect Jan. 1, 2026, sets a new standard in the aerospace defense sector.
Key highlights of the agreement include:
“This contract reflects the dedication and unity of our membership at Nellis, and the strength of our union’s voice at the bargaining table,” said IAM Western Territory General Vice President Robert “Bobby” Martinez. “The negotiating committee fought hard to deliver the wages, benefits, and protections our members not only need, but absolutely deserve. I thank the committee for their efforts, our members for standing strong, and IAM Aerospace Coordinator Denise Heath, whose expertise and steady guidance were key to securing this strong agreement.”
“This group entered negotiations already enjoying industry-leading compensation in wages, benefits, and retirement contributions,” said IAM Western Territory International Representative Paul Shepherd. “To be able to make these improvements in this contract is a direct result of the members’ professionalism, solidarity, and the leadership of a well-prepared negotiating committee that fought tirelessly to bring home an agreement that recognizes their value, and sets a new standard going forward. Special thanks to Business Representative Bob Simoni for his work in preparing the committee for this challenge.”
“I’m proud of what we achieved and grateful to our members for their trust and support throughout this process,” said IAM Local SC 711 President Kelvin Finkley. “This contract gives our members what they need to succeed – and when our members succeed, the company does too.”
IAM Local SC 711 became an independent local in 2016 and continues to grow its influence and effectiveness. Originally part of an amalgamated local located more than 25 miles away, members saw the value in forming their own local to better represent their specific needs, increase meeting participation, and strengthen their presence on the shop floor.
The negotiating committee trained at the IAM William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center in Hollywood, Md., to prepare for bargaining, ensuring that the committee entered negotiations with the knowledge, strategy, and solidarity needed to win a strong contract.
