IAM Local 2930 Delivers Five Truckloads of Food to Support DFW Families in Need

IAM Local 2930 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area once again demonstrated the power of solidarity and community service through a major food drive benefiting Mission Arlington, a nonprofit that provides essential support to families in need. The effort, organized by the Local 2930 Young Workers Committee, resulted in five truckloads of food and essential goods delivered this November.

The initiative was led by Young Workers Committee Chair Phil Blaxon, who helped mobilize the Local and coordinate contributions across the region.

“We knew families were struggling, and our committee wanted to make a meaningful impact,” said Blaxon. “Our members didn’t hesitate, they showed up with generosity and heart.”

Members from IAM Local 2930 working at American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines all contributed to the drive. The effort received additional major support from IAM District 776, with Lockheed-Martin donating $1,000 worth of canned and boxed goods, significantly boosting the mission’s capacity to serve families this holiday season.

“IAM Local 2930’s effort is a powerful example of what service to our communities looks like,” said IAM Air Transport Territory General Vice President Richie Johnsen. “When our members rally around families in need, it shows the true spirit of solidarity that defines the IAM.”

A dedicated group of volunteers, Lonnie Aguilar, Danny Driskill, Michael Robinson, Rick LoVerde, and Local 2930 Secretary-Treasurer Warren Hobbs II, worked together to transport and deliver the truckloads of donations to Mission Arlington.

“To see five full truckloads roll in was incredible,” said Hobbs. “It shows what our union family can accomplish when we unite behind a cause that matters.”

Mission Arlington staff expressed deep gratitude, noting that the demand for food assistance continues to grow across the DFW area.

“This food drive is just one example of the good work our union does for the communities we serve,” said Blaxon.
