Hu Claims China is Ready To Close Trade Gap

September 14, 2005 – Chinese President Hu Jintao told President Bush on Tuesday China is ready to work with the United States to reduce the massive trade deficit between the two nations.
Hu, who talked about increasing China’s imports from the United States, did not specify if China was willing to take measures to further revalue the yuan or decrease the influx of textiles from China into the United States.
The two leaders are preparing to meet on the sidelines of a United Nations meeting in New York.
