U.S. Trade Gap Continues to Widen

June 13, 2006 – Fueled by surging oil prices and a flood of imports from China, the U.S. trade gap jumped 2.5 percent to $63.4 billion in April. America’s trade gap with China increased 9.4 percent to $17 billion.

The U.S. trade deficit is on pace to hit $762.5 billion this year, a 6.4 percent increase from last years $716.7 billion record.
