Oregon Machinists Raise $4,000 for Guide Dogs

Machinists of IAM/Woodworkers District W24 and Local 63 in Gladstone, OR hit the road recently in the 7th Annual Guide Dogs Dash poker run.
More than 50 riders participated in raising $4,000 for Guide Dogs of America.
This year’s event was re-named the Richard Martin Memorial Guide Dog Dash in remembrance of the long-time Machinist who died last year following a long battle with cancer.
The 132-mile poker run started in Northeast Portland and ended at Lewisville Park outside of Battle Ground, WA. In between, riders made stops to draw playing cards.
Attendees included the Martin family, a host of Guide Dogs and their puppy raisers, and retirees.
Guide Dogs of America is an organization, founded by the IAM in 1948, dedicated to providing guide dogs and instruction in their use, free of charge, to blind and visually-impaired men and women from the United States and Canada.
