More than 90 percent of the 2,600 IAM members at Alaska Airlines voted to ratify a new contract that includes pay raises, a $1,500 signing bonus, job security provisions and participation in an annual performance-based pay incentive plan. The incentive plan will provide IAM members at Alaska Airlines with more than a month’s wages for their work in 2010.
The three-year contract covers clerical, office and passenger service workers at the Seattle, WA-based airline. The contract places IAM members at Alaska near the top of airline industry in pay and benefits, along with long-term job security.
Unlike many airline negotiations, which can drag on for years, negotiations between the IAM and Alaska Airlines began in March 2010 and concluded with a tentative agreement in December 2010.
