IAM to Continue Member-Driven Presidential Endorsement Process at Grand Lodge Convention

Delegates to the 41st IAM Grand Lodge Convention, to be held in New York City from Sept. 1-6, will decide the IAM’s 2024 U.S. presidential endorsement. The process, following the unexpected end of President Biden’s candidacy, will continue the IAM’s tradition of membership involvement in endorsing presidential candidates.

In accordance with Machinists Non-Partisan Political League (MNPL) guidelines, U.S. presidential endorsements rest with the IAM Grand Lodge Convention or the IAM Executive Council.

“Union democracy is the cornerstone of the IAM, and we carry that over to who we believe is the best candidate for working people to lead our nation’s democracy,” said IAM International President Brian Bryant. “Delegates to our Grand Lodge Convention are elected by their peers to represent them and make important decisions about the future of the IAM – and that’s exactly what we’re going to do.”

IAM members overwhelmingly endorsed President Biden in both the 2020 and 2024 presidential contests.
