Minnesota Machinists to Appear on History Channel

Members of Local 1030, District 66, in Winona, MN, will be featured in an upcoming episode of one of the History Channel’s most popular programs, Modern Marvels.

The IAM members, who are employed at Peerless Chain in Winona, made national news when they made over a million feet of chain for the floating “booms” used in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill clean up.

Peerless Chain makes 41 miles of chain on an average day. Each day’s work includes 2.9 million welds to the chain. Each day the plant consumes 40 tons of raw materials to produce the chain.

The show will give our members an opportunity to showcase their talents and their workplace.  The episode of Modern Marvels featuring workers at Peerless Chain is slated to air sometime next spring.
