Toronto Machinists Ratify First Agreement at Blok Loc

Members of Local 235 in Toronto, ON, have ratified their first collective agreement with Blok Loc Limited, a manufacturer of metal inserts for concrete blocks used in home and commercial construction.

The three-year agreement provides wage increases of four percent over the life of the contract as well as an additional sick day and an extra week of vacation for those with ten or more year’s seniority with the company.

“The wages were all over the map and this agreement has brought about a degree of conformity in that vital area,” explained District 78 Directing Business Representative Gary Hynes. “The lack of seniority was also a major concern for these workers and this agreement now provides seniority clauses in the new contract language.”
