On Jan. 20th, Local 2198 Young Workers Committee Chair Quintarius Oliver, alongside Co-Chair Eva Brook and committee member Porsha Johnson, proudly represented the Local during a community outreach visit to Elsik High School. They were joined by Audrey Chadwick Airport Support Grievance Committee and Albert Harmason, Secretary-Treasurer and Baggage Recovery Grievance Committee.
Together, the group delivered over 100 donated toiletries to support students in need. In addition to the donation, lunch was provided to the students. IAM Union embers took time to speak with over 60 students about the importance of unions, workers’ rights, and the power of collective bargaining.
The discussion turned into an engaging dialogue, with students asking thoughtful questions and showing strong interest in how unions protect workers and improve working conditions. The students were appreciative and excited that union leaders took the time to visit their school and invest in their future.
This outreach reflects Local 2198’s continued commitment to community service, education, and developing the next generation of union-minded workers.
