Agent Pleads Guilty to China Arms Plot

May 18, 2006 – A Taiwanese man has pleaded guilty of acting as a covert agent for the Chinese government. According to prosecutors, in early 2004 the man began attempting to acquire military aircraft engines and cruise missiles to ship to China.
Among the products the agent tried to acquire: 70 Blackhawk helicopter engines, F-16 engines and a AGM-129 cruise missile. The Chinese government has denied they were using a covert agent to acquire military technology.
