Jim was initiated into Progressive Lodge 41, St. Louis, Missouri, in 1963. He started his career as an apprentice machinist for Continental Can where he worked for over 16 years. In 1977, he went to work for Anheuser Busch in St. Louis, Missouri. Jim’s career as a trade unionist spans over three decades. He was appointed District 9 Organizer in 1978; elected Business Representative in 1979; promoted to Assistant Directing Business Representative in 1989, then elected to Directing Business Representative, a position he has held since 1996. Jim was elected to the IAM Committee on Law in 1996 and again in 2000. Since 1985, he has been President of the IAM Tool & Die Conference; is currently President of the Missouri State Council of Machinists, and serves as Executive Board Member to the Missouri State AFL-CIO. During his career as an IAM representative, he has been recognized for his contributions to workers and families in the St. Louis community. |
